STEPHANIE EATON

My name is Stephanie Eaton (nee Cole) and I have been a resident in Redland City for 20 years. For 10 years before, I had been holidaying in Redland Bay with my extended family enjoying many boating adventures. I was drawn to the Redlands in 1995 as a 35 year old single, professional. I chose to live here because of family, the warm weather, the proximity to Brisbane’s employment opportunities, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and the beauty of Moreton Bay.

Before living in the Redlands, I worked as a research scientist in Perth, the United Kingdom and Melbourne. I have a Bachelor Applied Science (Monash University), Master of Science (Manchester University) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from Griffith University. In 1999 I married and continued to live in Redland Bay running my own business as the Queensland sales agent for interstate companies and worked as a Medical representative. In 2006, I became a mother (at 46) and devoted my time to family including elderly parents and volunteer activities.

In the past 4 years, I have been an active member of the Redland Bay State School P&C raising funds via grant writing and then becoming the Vice President of Community Relations.

I have watched Division 6 grow during the past 20 years. Farmland has been subsumed to housing developments, roundabouts, traffic lights, shopping centres, increased traffic and the reduction of bushland for our wildlife.The population has grown to 10,000 in Division 6 but the existing infrastructure doesn’t cater for everyone’s needs. I want to be part of the decision making processes for establishing more services and infrastructure.
